There is a rare kind of quiet that settles over Peggy’s Cove when the tide pulls back, leaving behind perfectly still basins of seawater among the granite. This fine art photograph captures the iconic lighthouse not just as a landmark, but as a dual presence—its white-washed tower standing tall against the maritime sky, while its perfect twin is cradled in the glassy surface of a tide pool below.

To capture this perspective, I spent hours waiting for the mid-day crowds to fade, searching for a tide pool that could serve as a perfect mirror. My goal was a composition of absolute balance. I found it in this alignment: the vertical strength of the tower reflected perfectly in the water, anchored by a solitary figure sitting in contemplation on the rocks. As a stroke of serendipity, his red shirt echoed the crimson of the lantern room, completing a visual triangle that pulls the entire scene into harmony.
